Medical Assistant Supervisor
Job Summary
Supervises staff involved in providing interdisciplinary clinical / nursing care at a clinic and / or center, such as RDA, RDH, RNs, LVNs, etc. Assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in assigned clinic(s) and serves as a role model. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.
Involves the provision of integrated and accessible primary and specialty patient care services in a clinic or center environment. Care is provided by clinicians and assistants who are accountable for addressing a large majority of personal health care needs and developing a sustainable partnership with patients. Ensures optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in healthcare clinics or centers. Promotes shared decision-making at all levels to ensure a shared voice in practices, exchange of ideas, enhanced communication, and continually improved patient services. Management levels may also be responsible for clinic operations.
The Medical Assistant Supervisor, under the supervision of the Nursing Manager, guided by the policies and procedures of the Center for Reproductive Health (CRH) and Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the physician, clinical and nursing staff has the clinical responsibility for developing and maintaining a high standard of patient care. This position will perform clinical duties and coordination specific to unassisted and assisted reproductive techniques as well as andrology and gynecological treatment. Primary responsibility is to perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the primary and specialty care services provided to patients within the practice. The Medical Assistant Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff, and for daily operations. All components of care will be individualized to meet the patient’s physiological and psychosocial development level and needs. The Medical Assistant Supervisor consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor and shall comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.
The UCSF Center for Reproductive Health located in Northern California’s San Francisco Bay Area offers a comprehensive array of infertility evaluation and treatment options for both men and women. Our services include: Infertility Evaluation, Male Reproductive Health, Fertility Preservation, Reproductive Surgery, Tubal Reversal Surgery, In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD), Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), Ovulation Induction, Donor Sperm Insemination, Egg Donor Program for Donors, Egg Donor Program for Recipients, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), Recurrent Pregnancy Loss, Gestational Surrogacy, Genetic Screening and Counseling Psychological Support. In addition, Telehealth/Zoom is available for: Psychology, Genetic Counselors, new patients, follow ups, IVF Orientation and Injection classes
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of experience / training.
- Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- One year of experience as a Medical Assistant/Hospital Assistant in a medical practice
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Phlebotomy trained with a CPT-1 license
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Fertility experience
- Previous APEX and IDEAS experience
License/Certification
- Current California CPT-1 license
- American Heart Association CPR Certification
